The Big Splash is a celebration of all things water with activities such as synchronised swimming, aqua aerobics, pool party, kayaking and water safety demonstrations, plus pop-up Clubacise.
All activities are included in your entrance ticket and booking is essential.
This year, the event will take place at the Strand Lido and park in Gillingham on Saturday 15 June 2024.
This year’s event will support the Royal Lifesaving Society's (RLSS) Drowning Prevention Week which runs from 15 to 22 June 2024.
Our swimming lessons throughout the week will be adapted to include additional water safety skills.
Timetable of events at The Strand
- 10.30am to 12pm - drop-in basketball and dribbling skills with Kent Crusaders Basketball Club in the outdoor sports court
- 10.45am to 11.30am - holiday-camp style family aqua aerobics
- 12pm to 1pm - 'Made by Esther' Medway Activity Book. Meet the author for an exclusive book signing
- 12.30pm to 1.30pm - synchronised swimming display by Medway Artistic Swimming
- 1.30pm to 2.30pm - pool closed to public
- 2pm to 2.30pm - meet Mojo the Child Friendly mascot in the playpark
- 2.30pm to 3.30pm - water safety advice and Rookie Lifeguard taster sessions from The City of Rochester Lifesaving Society
- 2.30pm to 3.30pm - meet Perry the cute Royal Lifesaving Society mascot in the pool and play park
- 3pm to 3.45pm - it’s nearly Time with Cozenton Park Sports Centre pop-up Clubacise in The Strand play park
- 3.30pm to 4pm - giant inflatable races (inflatables to be provided)
- 3.30pm to 5.30pm - inflatable pool party music and games.
All day – take one of our kayaks for a leisurely float around the 350m lazy river.
Medway Watersports will be in the park with a sailing boat, giving information on all the activities they run on the river.
