Eligibility for carers

A carer can get help if there is an impact on your wellbeing and/or you need help while giving necessary care to an adult. 

If you think that the below list represents you (taken from the Care and Support (Eligibility) Regulations 2014law) apply, you may be eligible:

  • The carer’s physical or mental health is, or is at risk of, deteriorating

Or, the carer can't do two or more from this list:

  • carrying out any caring responsibilities for a child or other persons
  • maintaining a habitable home environment, whether or not this is also the home of the adult needing care
  • eating well 
  • developing yourself or other personal relationships
  • being in work, training, education or volunteering
  • making use of necessary facilities or services in the local community, including recreational facilities or services engaging in recreational activities
