We work hard to support families to care for their children at home. If this is not possible, we try to find family members or friends who can provide safe, nurturing and positive care for children throughout their childhood and into adulthood.

If care from family or friends is not possible, we will find a placement for the child which could be with adopters, foster carers or residential care.

We listen to young people and their experiences. Our Challengers group and the Children in Care Council are enthusiastic and powerful voices representing children in care in Medway.

Children placed in Medway by other local councils

Children that are placed in Medway by other local councils will have access to support from the council that placed them.

We can provide advice about children in care placed in Medway by other local councils.

Notify us of a child being placed in Medway

We keep a register of children in care in Medway.

If a child is placed, moved or discharged from a placement by a local council into another local council, the council needs to be notified.

Read our letter of a child placement notification to find out how to notify us.
