Dog fouling

Report a problem with dog fouling

The majority of dog owners behave responsibly and clean up after their dogs. However, a small minority fail to clean up. This is an offence and we can issue an £80 fixed penalty notice to a dog walker or owner who fails to pick up after their dog has fouled. This can increase to a maximum fine of £1,000 for those who persistently fail to clean up.

Bag it up

  • You can pick up free dog bags at contact points, libraries and community hubs
  • Always carry the means to clean up after your dog immediately, and dispose of it in a dog waste bin or a rubbish bin if a dog waste bin is not available
  • Respect dog-free areas
  • Speak to a vet about worming your dog regularly
