Library events

Medway Libraries organise regular events for all ages, including creative workshops, exhibitions, talks and author events. Events are free unless otherwise stated.

Several creative groups meet at library locations. If you are interested in using the library as a meeting place for your own group, please contact your local library.

Regular open mic sessions

Inspirational Nites run by Lisa Vigour showcase a mixture of music, spoken word and poetry, art and dance at various venues throughout Medway and Kent. Open mics run once a month in at the Northern Seaman micro-pub in Rochester.

Roundabout Nights are a lively monthly open mic night in Chatham, with a mixture of spoken word and occasional music.

Meeting like-minded people

Spinach, an informal networking event run by Ideas Test meets on the second Tuesday of the month at Sun Pier House in Chatham.  

Writers Rendezvous, an informal quarterly get-together for writers, take place in Rochester. For more details, email Philip Kane at redtengu@btinternet.com

Culture and Design Awards

The Culture and Design Awards were created to celebrate excellence in the arts, culture, design and heritage. These awards serve to recognise groups and individuals for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the area’s cultural vitality. They help raise the profile of, and give recognition to the businesses, projects, people and organisations that contribute to the cultural offer in Medway.
