Women and Girls #Thisgirlcan

Whether you are an aspiring athlete or a complete novice, there is something within Medway to get all women active, regardless of shape, size, age and ability.

This Girl Can Swim

This Girl Can Swim posterNEW FOR 2018  - Get your friends together and join us for a swim!

Medway Sport is launching women-only swimming sessions as part of the This Girl Can Swim initiative.

The sessions take place every Friday from 9.30am-10.30am at Hoo Sports Centre, offering women the chance to get active whilst making friends, enjoying themselves and being supported in a comfortable, non-judgemental setting.

A member of our team will be available on pool side to offer advice and support, and women are welcome to wear t-shirts and short if it makes them feel more comfortable about taking the plunge.

Each session costs £3 per person (£1.50 for members and city card holders) and includes a free cuppa after your swim. FIRST SESSION FREE

Venue: Hoo Sports Centre, Main Road, Hoo St Werburgh ME3 9EY 01634 333955.

There's no booking required, but if you want more information before coming along email medwaysport@medway.gov.uk and a member of our team will be in touch.

This Girl Can is Sport England's campaign that is "a celebration of active women who are doing their thing no matter how they do it, how they look or even how sweaty they get".

Medway Council offers new and expectant mums half-price swimming for 18 months at Medway Park, Strood Sports Centre and Hundred of Hoo Sports Centre pools.

Swimming is a great form of all-round exercise, especially when you are pregnant or getting back into exercise after giving birth.

The application form is available to new mums via midwives, health visitors and Medway's children's centres. The completed form can be taken to one of Medway's swimming pools for the half-price swimming offer to be activated.
