Cadet and Junior National Table TenniCadet and Junior National Table Tennis Championships

6-7 May, Medway Park

The English Cadet & Junior National Championships is Table Tennis England flagship event for this age group.   Held each year, the championships play host to the most talented young table tennis players in the country.   

Free spectator admission.

 

Battle of Medway Sports Festival 

9-10 June 2017Battle of Medway logo

Medway Sport joins the 350th anniversary celebrations of the Battle of Medway.

  • Friday, 9 June - British Army v Dutch Navy football match. 2pm Garrison Football Ground, Gillingham
  • Saturday, 10 June - London GD Handball Club v HV KRAS/Voldendam international men’s handball.  Medway Park 3pm. Followed by big screening of the England v Scotland World Cup Qualifier at 5pm.  

Free spectator admission to both events.

 

Pickleball paddlesPickleball UK Open Championships

26-28 May, Medway Park

More than 200 pickleball players from around the world compete in this tournament, coming to the UK for the first time. See this emerging racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis played by the experts. Free spectator admission.

 

Kent International Judo Kent International Judo

24-25 Judo, Medway Park

Judoka from across the UK and Europe compete over two days at Medway Park. Spectator admission £6 on the door.

 

British Judo Association National Team Championships

Medway Park, Saturday, 1 July

Teams of judoka compete for national glory. Categories for under 20s and senior men and senior women.

Spectators welcome (admission charge applies).

 

Wheelchair Rugby League at Medway park

England Wheelchair Rugby League – Open training session

Saturday, 8 July 12pm-3pm, Medway Park

Come along to the home of England Wheelchair Rugby League and help us give a Medway send-off to the players ahead of the World Cup in France. Free admission.

 

Wheelchair RL Grand Final Halifax v Leeds 2016Wheelchair Rugby League Premier League Grand Final

The official home of England Wheelchair Rugby League hosts the climax of the national domestic league, when the top two teams from the season battle it out in a winner-takes-all clash.

Medway Park, 18/19 March 2017

More than 700 students from universities across the United Kingdom battled it out for national handball glory on the courts of Medway Park.  

The event features 69 student teams from as far afield as Scotland competing in the national finals - the biggest event in the competition's history.

 

Handball Women's Challenge CupLK Zug v Olympia handball

Medway Park, 19/20 November 2016

International handball returned to Medway Park as London's Olympia Handball Team took on LK Zug from Switzerland in the third round of the European Handball Federation's Women's Challenge Cup.

The weekend's action also included junior, development and Men's Super8s fixtures on the purpose-built court being installed at Medway's centre of sporting excellence.

 

European Women's Table Tennis Team Championships Qualifier

England took on Slovenia at Medway Park in a qualification event for the European Women's Table Tennis Team Championships.

With only a hair’s breadth between the two countries in the world rankings, the tie was a thriller with England emerging victorious in the deciding match up.

Victory went a long way towards determining England’s qualifying position for the European Championships.

The event was organised by Table Tennis England.

 

England win the WRL Euros 2015

European Wheelchair Rugby League Championships

International wheelchair rugby league returned to Medway Park in September 2015.

England, France, Wales, Ireland and Scotland battled it out to be crowned European Champions during four action-packed days of competition.

More than 2,000 people packed the stands during the tournament to cheer on the team, and were treated to a nail-biting final between England and France.

Medway Park also hosted the Premier League Grand Final between Halifax WRL and Leeds Rhinos in September 2016, the first event since being named as the official home of England Wheelchair Rugby League.


Men's Under 21 Handball World Championship QualifierDutch handball players celebratings

Medway Park welcomed 60 international athletes through its doors in January 2015 to compete in the European qualifiers for the Men’s Under 21 Handball World Championships.

Four international teams – GB, Hungary, Israel and the Netherlands – battled it out to be winners of qualification group C but it was the Netherlands who beat all their rivals to claim a place in the World Championships in Rio in the summer 2015.

The Netherlands won all three of their qualification matches, the decisive victory coming against Hungary in a thrilling match which finished 19-18.

This event was the first time since the 2012 London Olympics that Great Britain had hosted an international handball event, so it was a privilege for Medway Park to be chosen as the venue.

More than 1,000 spectators embraced the opportunity to watch elite athletes in action and be part of the fast-paced, exciting sport. Their drums, flags and chants contributed to an immense atmosphere.. 

Experts were on hand at half-time to provide analysis and give spectators the chance to have a go with handball taster coaching sessions.

In the lead up to the event Medway Sport delivered handball coaching sessions to nearly 400 primary school children and Team GB combined their tough training schedule with visits to local primary schools, running coaching sessions for more than 125 enthusiastic children and staff.

European Veterans' Team Fencing Championships 2016 European Veterans Fencing Team Champs medals 2016

International sport returned to Medway Park for with a major event celebrating 25 years of veteran fencing in Europe.

Ninety nine teams of competitors from than 29 European countries took part in the event from Thursday, 5 to Sunday, 8 May.

The competition featured all three forms of Olympic fencing – sabre, foil and epée.

 

GB v Canada Sitting Volleyball at MEdway ParkGB v Canada Sitting Volleyball - May 2016

GB took on Canada in a weekend showcasing Paralympic sport at Medway Park.

The women’s sitting volleyball international weekend served as a warm up event for Canada as they prepare to compete in the Paralympic Games in Rio later in the summer.

The tournament also featured the England Volleyball All Stars and the Volleyball England Go Spike roadshow.
