Medway Youth Parliament

"You may not have the vote, but you do have a voice" – that’s the motto of Medway Youth Council, which represents the young people of Medway.

Medway Youth Council (MYC) is run for young people, by young people, with support from Medway Council. It has two main roles:

  • Helping young people tackle issues that affect them by working with decision-makers
  • Representing young people through school councils, MYC representatives, and the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP).

Medway Youth Council News and Activities

For up-to-date news and information about MYC activities and campaigns see our regular quarterly newsletter published on this website.

MYC members deliver a key campaign every year, with another selected by the Youth Council.

The subject for this year’s conference and core campaign is bullying.

MYC members also work with Medway Children’s Action Network, Youth Independent Advice and Guidance (IAG), Medway’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Medway Safeguarding Children Board.

Make Your Mark

MYC representatives will be at the UK Youth Parliament again this year, supporting the annual Make Your Mark ballot. The largest survey of young people’s views in the UK, Make Your Mark provides an opportunity to make young voices heard and influence government and leaders across the UK.

UKYP members will be debating real issues in the House of Commons this November, and you can vote to decide what those issues are.

But hurry, the vote closes on 6 October!

Did you know - If you’re between the ages of 11 and 18 then you could be elected to the UKYP and make a real difference to youth issues and concerns.
