Medway has a well-connected bus network, with a number of routes
supported financially by the council. Bus services operate
close to most homes in Medway and there are more
easy-access super low-floor buses in service. If you have
difficulty in using the main bus network, the Medway Mobility service
offers a link to the main shopping centres.
Service 703 - County Connect ceases operations
As of 15 December, County Connect Buses ceases operations with
immediate effect. The 703 service (which was operated commercially
by County Connect) which ran between Halling, Cuxton and Bluewater
on Wednesdays and Saturdays will no longer run.
January 9 - changes to Nu-Venture services 172-175 and 192
serving Strood, Wainscott, Frindsbury and Lodge Hill
From 9 January 2017 there will be an amendment
to the timetable for Nu-Venture bus services 172, 173 and 175
which serve Chatham, Strood, Frindsbury, Wainscott and Lodge
The aim of the new timetable is to improve
reliability and punctuality to journeys across the whole service
throughout the day.
- During off-peak periods on Mondays to Fridays, the new service
pattern will continue to provide for hourly buses via Salters
Cross/Rede Court Road (bus 172), hourly at Frindsbury (bus 175),
half-hourly at Brompton Farm Road/Wainscott (buses 172/175) and
hourly at Lodge Hill (bus 172 and 175 together with the
existing ASD service 197 in the early morning and afternoon – this
is unaffected). This rearrangement gives both the 172 and 175
more running time in the Strood area, and - for the 172 - recovery
time at the end of its route at Wainscott to ensure that buses
can remain punctual.
- Lodge Hill Chattenden will have 7 journeys to and from Lodge
Hill Monday to Friday. Saturdays will have 5 journeys in each
direction with the 172 and 173.
- Strood Watling Street will have 6 journeys into Chatham, and 5
journeys to Strood Monday to Friday, and Saturdays 5 into Chatham
and 4 towards Strood with the 172.
- Cooling Road will have 8 journeys to Chatham and 9 towards
Liberty Park Monday to Friday, and 5 in each direction on Saturdays
with the 175
The simplification of services will see the
use of route numbers 174 and 192 disappear.
