Gain an NVQ

We offer a wide range of apprenticeships for young people giving the opportunity to earn while you learn – the minimum training allowance is £95 per week.

There are different types of apprenticeships within the council, but you will normally complete a Level 2 or a Level 3 NVQ in a specific subject area, which is funded by the Government Apprenticeship Scheme.

Subject areas include Customer Contact , Revenues and Benefits, Social Care, Employ Medway, Education Advisors, the Teenage Pregnancy Team, Research and Information and ICT to name a few.

A wealth of experience

The council offers a number of courses for apprentices, including report writing, minute taking and personal budgeting and finance.

Apprentices can gain an understanding of how the council operates at a political level, meeting the Mayor, the Chief Executive and Portfolio Holders and attending Cabinet meetings and Full Council.

It's a great opportunity to make new friends and broaden social skills, so apprentices can also arrange social events amongst themselves, such as bowling.
