The gates of Rochester Pier are open during daylight hours every day of the year except Christmas
Day and Boxing Day. The upper section of the pier is now a step free viewing platform in a quiet corner of the Rochester
Esplanade Gardens. It offers a unique connection to the river Medway with views of the iconic Rochester Bridge. The Friends of Rochester Churchfields and Esplanade (FoRCE) are working with Medway Council to
improve the visitor experience of the pier by giving their time to repaint iron work and replant flower beds. We're grateful to them for their hard work and dedication. There are no immediate plans to reinstate access to the pontoon to let visiting boats moor
here. The current focus is making the upper section of Rochester Pier a pleasant place to visit and
