Age UK Kent Rivers introduced the Befriending Service as a way to help elderly residents of Medway maintain connections with their local communities, as well as giving them someone to talk to, and a way of reducing social isolation.
The best thing about this service is that it's completely free and provided by fully trained and vetted volunteers.
The main aims of the service are to:
- reduce social isolation
- build confidence
- maintain independence
- enhance wellbeing
- assist with engaging with the community.
