About the Household Support Fund

Latest Household Support Fund update (September 2024)

We've identified 3,900 Medway residents who are eligible for a payment of £145 which will be paid via the Post Office Payout System.

If you're one of these residents, you'll receive a letter from us. We will not ask you to share any personal or bank details.

About the fund

The Household Support Fund provides support to vulnerable Medway households.

Funded by the UK government, the scheme is for those most in need of support to help with significantly rising living costs.

The fund can be used for:

  • food and home essentials
  • school uniforms
  • energy
  • water
  • essentials linked to energy and water
  • housing costs in exceptional circumstances, but not mortgages.

The fund is available to everyone who lives in Medway, including those who are not currently receiving benefits and who are not eligible for public funds.

If you do not pay your Council Tax to Medway Council, visit GOV.UK to find your local council.

The scheme is administered to a fixed budget. The terms of the scheme could change during the year.

What we can award and how.

Our Household Support Fund scheme does not require banking details to administer support. We will never request this information over the telephone.
