Apply to install or extend a dropped kerb

You can use our online form to apply to install or extend a dropped kerb.

You’ll need to pay £395 for us to visit the site, inspect, and provide an outcome.

Pre-application advice

Decide if you’d like to get pre-application advice before applying. We’ll complete all checks and tell you if we would approve your application or not.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for a dropped kerb, you must have an address in Medway. If you're unsure you can find your local council on GOV.UK.

If you decide not to get pre-application advice, you must read our guidance and complete a self-assessment checklist before you apply.

The self-assessment checklist includes checking:

  • your parking area is the correct size
  • the proposed dropped kerb is 10 metres away from a junction
  • the proposed dropped kerb is one metre away from a streetlight or telegraph pole
  • trees in the footway near the proposed dropped kerb
  • if you need planning permission
  • utility covers in the proposed dropped kerb area
  • parking bays outside the property
  • if the property was previously owned by us
  • if landowners need to be consulted such as the Housing Association.

Download our application guidance and self-assessment.

We will not refund you if you apply and your application is declined.

If you're unsure about any area of the checklist or need further help, you can request pre-application advice.
