People rely on our roads to get to work, school and deliver goods and services, so we're investing in our network to help keep Medway moving safely.
Red routes are in place across some roads in Medway to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow. View the red route locations.
What a red route is
A red route will have double red lines along the kerb. It will also have signs on and around the road.
On a red route motorists cannot:
- stop
- park
- load or unload.
Motorists can still stop and park in formal parking or loading bays on roads where red routes are used.
Why we've implemented red routes
Less congestion should result in fewer delays for motorists and for services like public buses. It can also help to reduce emissions and impact on air quality locally.
Red routes also help stop illegal and unsafe parking to create a safer network for all road users.
