Secondhand smoke leaves the lit end of a cigarette and it’s what’s exhaled by a smoker. Over 80% of secondhand smoke is invisible and contains over 4,000 chemicals.
Secondhand smoke exposure results in 300,000 GP visits and 9,500 hospital admissions for children each year in the UK. What's more, 82% of children that regularly smoke have parents that smoke.
By making some simple changes, you can help protect children from secondhand smoke. See how in our short video.
You can find more facts and figures in our secondhand smoke leaflet, including useful tips on how to remove exposure to others, especially children.
