Finding a Shared Lives carer
When we think we’ve found a Shared Lives carer who would be a good match for you, we will send you their profile.
Their profile will include information about:
- where they live
- their family
- their pets
- their interests.
The profile will also include photos to help you decide if they’re right for you.
Next steps when you find a good match
If you and the Shared Lives carer agree, we will arrange a visit, this is usually for a cup of tea and a chat at the Shared Lives carer’s house.
This gives you a chance to see if you get along and to see the house where you will stay.
If you are thinking about moving in with a Shared Lives carer, we will arrange more visits. This will include an overnight stay.
During this time, the Shared Lives carer will explain any rules they have in their home. This could be no loud music after a certain time, or letting them know what time you will be home. You can talk about this when you visit them.
If you both agree that you want to share your lives together, you will get a care plan. This will set out what your goals are and how your Shared Lives carer can help you reach them.
