The academy
Launched in 2014, the academy aims to attract, recruit, develop and retain social care staff with a strong focus on training linked to continuous professional development for all existing social care staff and managers.
The Academy is virtual and made up of The Adults Faculty and the Student Faculty. These are closely aligned to the Teaching Partnership with:
- Medway Council
- Kent County Council
- University of Kent
- Christchurch University.
Our ethos
In Adult Services we're committed to the professional standards of each professional group and the council's priority of adults maintaining their independence and healthy lives.
We keep adults and families at the centre of what we do and focus on achieving improved outcomes for them through our interventions.
We work with individuals in a strengths-based, solution focused way and will respond in a way that is proportionate. We will always work with families.
Professional support
We will facilitate your development through:
- training
- supervision
- coaching
- team and service meetings.
We will offer you support to develop your knowledge and skills while providing ongoing continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities and the ability to develop your practice and progress your career. This will allow you to provide the best support for adults, their families and carers.
We offer:
- practice educating to support the learning culture
- leadership and management programmes via an apprenticeship
- a personal development plan which is specific to your needs
- a range of post-qualifying qualifications including Practice Educator, Best Interest Assessor and Approved Mental Health Professional.
Induction
You'll receive a comprehensive induction programme which will be tailored by your manager to ensure that you are successfully inducted in your new role and understand the Medway approach to working with adults and families.
