There are lots of ways you can pay your council rent. Click the boxes below to open up more details about each payment method available.
Payments can be made by direct debit through your bank or building society. They can be set up for 1st or 15th or 25th of the month or weekly on a Friday. If paid by 5pm, the payment will be received by the council the following working day.

Pay using your rent swipecard at any Post Office or any shop displaying the PayPoint sign.
If paid by 5pm, the payment will be received by the council the next working day.
To use the text message service, you must register your details at allpayments
After you have registered, each time you wish to pay your rent, send the following message to 81025: ‘PAY RENT, the amount you pay in pounds and pence and the last four digits of the credit/debit card you set up your account with.'
For example: Text ‘PAY RENT £555.55 1234’
Call 0844 557 8321 and give your Allpay card number and credit/debit card details.
Pay your rent through the Allpay app, download from the Allpay website.
You can pay by phone using a debit or credit card. Please call the Housing Income Team during office hours on 01634 333 344.

Cash and cheques can be deposited at Chatham and Strood Contact Points using the automated tills.

Housing Benefit
People on low income may, in certain circumstances, qualify for Housing Benefit. You can do this online on our housing benefits page. Alternatively, you can contact the Housing Benefits Team on 01634 333 344.
