The type of event, location and number of people attending will impact the planning timeline and the fees.
You'll need to submit an application to us with enough time before the event so we can work with you. The planning process ensures all event documentation, permissions and insurances are in place.
Event size and lead in time
Small sized event
- Audience capacity: up to 499
- Amount of notice needed: 3 months.
Medium sized event
- Audience capacity: 500 to 999
- Amount of notice needed: 6 months.
Large sized event
- Audience capacity: 1,000 to 4,999
- Amount of notice needed: 9 months.
Major sized event
- Audience capacity: 5,000+
- Amount of notice needed: 12 months.
Events Medway work to these event guidelines but may occasionally reclassify an event in consultation with the event organisers.
Fees and charges
Hiring a park or open space in Medway is subject to following fees.
- Application fee - due on submission of an application
- Hire fee - one day event
- Hire fee - additional event days
- Hire fee - build and de-rig days
- Environmental Impact Fee (EIF)
- Damage deposit (refundable)
- Overstay fees.
Once you've submitted an application, an Events Medway officer will give you a quote for the hire based on your information. The charges are scalable based on size, location and type of event organisers.
Exemptions
Hire fees for heritage locations are agreed once an application has been made and paid for. It is not subject to the fees and charges exemptions for parks and open spaces.
