We're after your views on proposed road safety measures on Luton Road.
We take road safety very seriously. We continually monitor the police’s reported personal injury collision records and prioritise the limited funding we have for locations that will benefit most. The collision records indicate that Luton Road requires improvement, and we have developed a traffic calming scheme aimed at reducing road traffic incidents.
Second phase
The first phase of the scheme has already been successfully introduced in the section of Luton Road between Upper Luton Road and York Hill. This consisted of gentle flat “raised table” road humps and ‘speed cushions’.
We're now proposing to introduce a series of similar traffic calming measures in the section of Luton Road between Castle Road and A2 Chatham Hill, as well as some extensions to existing junction build-outs to provide areas for soft landscaping and tree planting, along with general street improvements.
