Have your say on plans to help breathe a new lease of life into a historic area of Medway.
Medway Council has launched two public consultations giving residents, businesses and organisations the opportunity to comment on the vision for The High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) between Star Hill and Sun Pier.
People can have their say on two documents which aim to protect and enhance the character of the Star Hill to Sun Pier Conservation Area.
The Development Framework document will help guide heritage-led growth and development in the area. The Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan document will identify the features of the conservation area which should be protected and enhanced.
The public consultations for both of these documents are open now and end on Sunday, 26 November.
HSHAZs are supported by government to help with the recovery of high streets by regenerating historic buildings and engaging communities through art and cultural projects.
The Star Hill to Sun Pier Conservation Area was awarded £1.6m High Street Heritage Action Zone funding from Historic England in April 2020.
Encourage everyone to take part
Cllr Lauren Edwards, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic and Social Regeneration and Inward Investment, said: “We are really proud of our heritage, and this is a fantastic opportunity for people to have their say on the regeneration of a historic part of Medway. I would encourage everyone to take part in the consultations to make sure they have their say.”
