A new event will give Medway’s families an opportunity to get to know each other on Tuesday, 13 February.
The ‘Welcome to Medway’ event is aimed at both families who are new to the area and those who have lived here for a while but have not been able to build a strong support network.
The event will run from 10am – 1pm at All Saints Church, Magpie Hall Road, Chatham, ME4 5NE and then, over the road, join in with free family activities at the Chatham Children and Family Hub, Magpie Hall Road, ME4 5AZ.
As well as providing people with the chance to get to know each other, more than 30 services and partners will be attending the event to showcase what is on offer in Medway.
Come along and find out about the mental health and wellbeing, SEND and family support on offer in Medway. There will also be the chance to learn about child development and family activities as well as finding out more about public health services, including school immunisations, health visits and blood pressure checks.
People attending the event will also be able to find out more about Medway Adult Education, our library services and learn important safety tips from our road safety team and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
Invaluable to Medway's communities
Cllr Adam Price, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, said: “This is a wonderful idea and something I think could be invaluable to Medway’s communities. This is a chance to get to know other local people who are new to the area or potentially in a similar position to you and strengthen your support network. It is also a chance to see what support there is for families in Medway both through the council and the brilliant partners we regularly work with.”
Further events are planned to be held across other areas of Medway this year.
