It’s nearly time to grab those goggles and head down to Cozenton Park Sports Centre.
Medway Council staff and Willmott Dixon Construction Limited have put in an Olympic effort to get the new centre ready for opening day on Wednesday, 17 July, but after that it will be time for the hard graft to begin in the gym...
Or of course you could just spend an hour on the flume and in the leisure pool, or enjoy one of our fitness classes in our multipurpose dance and fitness studio, which can also host children’s parties.
The brand-new centre in Rainham will offer a wealth of high-quality facilities for young and old, and everyone in between – providing Medway residents with a new council-built sports centre for the first time in over 30 years.
Its leisure pool includes features for children of all ages, while fitness enthusiasts can enjoy lane swimming in the 25-metre four-lane pool, as well as a state-of-the-art gym and fitness studio.
The new centre is inclusive for everyone with a range of accessibility features including two pool lifts, wide entrances, Changing Places room, lockers, toilets and showers.
Premier Memberships give residents the ultimate experience with priority booking for Cozenton Park Sports Centre 15 days in advance plus a host of other benefits and discounts, such as personalised fitness pathway, exclusive gym and swimming sessions, 30% discount on swimming lessons and 25% discount on Medway Sport parties.
Gym-goers will also get to experience a first for Medway Sports Centres: a new digital wristband from Pulse Fitness will be available exclusively for Premier Members, allowing users to easily track their completed workouts and analyse their data via the TRAKK mobile app.
The state-of-the-art gym - lit with natural light from panoramic windows – is packed with top level equipment including treadmills featuring 18.5-inch bluetooth and internet-enabled screens, along with elite bikes, rowers, Stepmills, and cross trainers.
There are also plate-loaded resistance machines and free weights, while Premier Members get access to another Medway first - the Tanita machine, providing users with body composition analysis.
A hub of fun and fitness
Cllr Harinder Mahil, Portfolio Holder for Heritage, Culture and Leisure, said: “I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone to Cozenton Park Sports Centre, and hope as many of you as possible will get to enjoy the fun here over the coming months. Whether you’re starting out on a fitness journey or you’re already a few marathons into one, Cozenton Park’s doors are welcome to all, and the centre will be a hub of fun and fitness for all ages.
“I for one am looking forward to trying out the new facilities and taking my daughter to the pool. In fact the centre will hopefully be where she gets her first swimming lessons, as I’m sure will be the case for thousands of Medway children!”
