The Big Splash, Medway’s celebration of all things aquatic, returns to The Strand Lido and playpark on Saturday, 15 June.

There will be fun for all the family on offer with holiday camp-style aqua aerobics, an inflatable pool party and inflatable races, a synchronised swimming display from Medway Artistic Swimming Club and much more.

The Big Splash takes place during the Royal Lifesaving Society’s Drowning Prevention Week, which runs from Saturday, 15 June to Saturday, 22 June.

To support this, there will also be a focus on water safety skills, with the City of Rochester Lifesaving Society offering water safety advice and lifeguard taster sessions.

There will be plenty of fun happening outside of the water too. You can break a sweat with the drop-in basketball sessions run by Kent Crusaders Basketball Club or enjoy a sneak preview of the Clubacise session, which will be offered at Cozenton Park Sports Centre when it opens in July.

You will also get the opportunity to meet the author and get your copy of the Designed by Esther Medway Activity Book signed, as well as the chance to meet our Child-Friendly Medway mascot, Mojo and the Royal Lifesaving Society’s mascot, Perry!

Fun-filled day

Adam Bryan, Director of Place at Medway Council, said: “We are really lucky to have The Strand in Medway, and The Big Splash is the perfect place to kick off your summer! It is sure to be a fantastic fun-filled day for Medway’s families, as well as visitors to Medway who want to check out the UK’s only remaining riverside tidal saltwater pool!

“It’s brilliant to see lots of fun activities planned for the day, but I’m also really pleased to see an emphasis on water safety as well. The River Medway is such a key part of our identity, so educating people on how they can stay safe in the water whilst having lots of fun is important.”

All of The Big Splash activities are included in your entrance ticket, but booking is essential. All members can reserve their place now. Non-members will be able to book their place from Saturday, 8 June.
