‘I can resist anything except temptation’, said the great Victorian playwright and poet Oscar Wilde, in one of his famous witticisms...

So you may as well not resist the temptation to watch the Wilde About Oscar show –  a celebration of his life to mark the 170th anniversary of his birth, which comes to Eastgate House in Rochester High Street on Saturday, 29 June.

Three shows will be held at 2pm, 3.30pm, and 5pm, each offering an hour of readings and performances from Oscar Wilde’s best loved works, including The Importance of Being Earnest, The Selfish Giant, An Ideal Husband, and some of the quotes crafted by his razor sharp wit.

Each show is followed by a short Q&A with local expert and Rainham-based teacher Vanessa Heron, Chair of the Oscar Wilde Society.

Tickets cost £11, and are available from Eastgate House Rochester on 01634 332700 or online at https://www.visitmedway.org/eastgatehouse
