Explore the unique heritage attractions on your doorstep this summer with Medway’s Summer Trails.

The historical scavenger hunts will take place at Rochester Castle, The Guildhall Museum, Eastgate House and Upnor Castle.

The family-friendly trails start running on Saturday, 27 July and finish on Saturday, 31 August.

Budding explorers will need to hunt for clues at each of the locations, and will receive a special badge and stamp for each one they complete.

Explore the historic Rochester Castle, and once you’ve finished you could even stop off for a well-earned picnic in the picturesque castle gardens.

Over at Upnor Castle, which sits on the bank of the River Medway, the soldiers have lost some of their kit and need Medway’s children to help them find it!

The Guildhall Museum, which tells the story of the history of Medway, has hidden items linked to our iconic River Medway – spot them all to claim your prize there. Finally – teddy bears have taken over at Eastgate House, you’ll have to keep an eye out for them all as you explore the magnificent Elizabethan town house.

Brilliant family-friendly day out

Cllr Nina Gurung, Portfolio Holder for Heritage, Culture and Leisure, said: “There is history and heritage everywhere you look in Medway, and it’s great to see the always-popular summer trails return once again. These fun and exciting trails are a brilliant family-friendly day out, but they are also a great opportunity for children and adults alike to learn more about the fascinating history of Medway. Medway takes pride in being child and family friendly, and we are looking forward to welcoming families to our amazing heritage attractions this summer – and I want to wish the very best of luck to all of the future explorers in Medway!”

Opening times for each of the attractions can be found on Visit Medway. Normal admission charges apply to each of the heritage sites, but taking part in each trail is free.
