A new virtual tool has been launched in Medway showcasing a wide range of equipment available to support independent living.

If you, a family member, neighbour or friend needs a little extra support at home, the new virtual house demonstrates the tools and equipment available for all rooms of a home. This includes occupational therapy equipment, support aids and assistive technology.

The Virtual House for Assistive Technology has been developed by Medway Council and Kyndi for those who are considering using Assistive Technology or would like support on what might be available to help make changes at home so it is safer and easier to move around and do everyday tasks.

We support residents of all ages to promote and encourage independent living, meaning people can stay living in their own home for longer. The virtual house is another method of supporting Medway’s residents and helping them take steps to be able to safely live independently.

Manage everyday tasks

Cllr Teresa Murray, Portfolio Holder for Public Health and covering Adults’ Services, said: “Our teams work hard all year round to provide support to individuals of all ages to help them manage everyday tasks and to live independently. There are already a range of services in place to support our most vulnerable residents, and I am delighted the new virtual house has launched and is ready to show those who might need a little extra support at home the tools and equipment available to help them. New technologies are being developed all the time and we want people in Medway to have access to the most modern and up to date sources of help. Please give the virtual house a look, we want your feedback on how useful it is and how easy it is to use too”
