The Time to Shine awards are held each year by Medway Council and the Medway Children & Young People’s Council (MCYPC) supported by the Young Lives Foundation.
The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of children and young people with care experience.
Nominations for this year’s awards are open now and will close at 12noon on Monday, 28 October.
The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, 14 November at the Rochester Corn Exchange.
If you know a child or young person with care experience who you think deserves to be recognised then make sure to nominate them today.
There are five award categories in total:
- Achievement – This award is for someone who has had an important achievement in the last year.
- Resilience – This award is for young people who have shown the ability to keep going or to push themselves even when there may have been a lot happening for them that may have made any steps forward more difficult.
- Bravery – This award will be to recognise a young person who has had to summon courage and nerve in their lives.
- Inspiration – This award is to recognise a young person who has motivated others or shown leadership and acted as a positive example to others.
- Skilful – This award is for someone who has developed a new skill or improved on an existing skill in the last year.
Cllr Adam Price, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, said: “It was an honour to present some of the awards at last year’s awards, and I’m really looking forward to this year’s event too. It is inspirational to hear from the speakers as well as the stories of those who are nominated, from the challenges they face to their incredible achievements. Make sure you get all of your nominations in before the deadline – and I look forward to seeing you there in November.”
