Business is set to get a boost in Medway with the completion of the brand new Ascend centre.
Situated in the heart of Chatham, on the first floor of the Pentagon Centre, the new coworking space benefits from excellent transport links and has been created as a flexible base for small businesses, entrepreneurs and freelancers.
A preview event on Friday 1 November was hosted by Ascend operator Edgility, who were joined by representatives from Medway Council, the designers and those involved in construction of the hub, along with some special guests.
Those who attended were given a tour of the site - which includes coworking spaces, private offices, meeting rooms and free business support – and learnt about upcoming programmes that the business will offer.
With Medway’s economy continuing to grow, the completion of Ascend offers a great opportunity for business owners, providing professional office space for small-to-medium size businesses and other professionals looking for secure workspace away from home.
An amazing home for Medway businesses
Cllr Simon Curry, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Climate Change and Strategic Regeneration, said: “We want to say a big thank you to everyone who’s been involved in the creation of Ascend, which is going to be an amazing home for Medway businesses and an exciting place to be in the next few years. I hope the hub becomes an invaluable springboard for new initiatives and will soon be established as an important centre for business in Chatham.”
Fitted with high speed broadband, ‘agile work areas’, high-quality interiors and modern facilities, Ascend is designed to be a productive place where entrepreneurs, freelancers and employees can truly thrive.
In addition, all Medway businesses can access free face-to-face business support at Ascend and Dragon Coworking in Chatham. A range of support is available, from marketing to help with funding applications. Sessions are available each week and can be booked online at Medway.gov.uk/Business121Support.
The centre has been created thanks to funding secured from the government’s Future High Streets Fund, investment from Medway Council, and funding from the South-East Local Enterprise Partnership’s (SELEP) Getting Building Fund.
Onsite works have been delivered by Form Fit Out, and the site will be run by Edgility, in partnership with Kiln, who will be responsible for managing bookings and the facilities on a day-to-day basis.
