We are pleased to announce we have won the Money Guiders Partner of the Year Award at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) Money Guiders Awards.

Money Guiders is a free programme of training which is designed for the public service, public benefit, and not-for-profit sectors.

It aims to provide staff the core skills, qualities and knowledge needed to be able to provide non-regulated money guidance to residents.

Any of our staff who have conversations around money with residents are encouraged to complete the training as part of their role, in order to give them the confidence to be able to provide non-regulated money guidance. This training forms a key part of Medway Council’s Cost of Living Response Plan.

The training covers a number of elements including being able to provide factual information, such as signposting where people can get support, as well as more in-depth conversations around individual circumstances. As well as the initial training, Money Guiders are also offered ongoing development through webinars, workshops and meetings.

There are now more than 130 registered Money Guiders at Medway Council.

Committed to doing everything we can

Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, said: “It is fantastic news that our Finance team has been recognised by the Money and Pensions Service for its work to embed the Money Guiders training into Medway Council. We are committed to doing everything we can to help our residents with the ongoing cost of living crises, and through this training we are able to give our officers the knowledge and confidence to be able to provide guidance on money when they are speaking to our residents.”
