Help shape the future of community facilities on the Hoo Peninsula
Residents are invited to have their say on the draft Hoo Community Infrastructure Framework, which aims to help improve community services across the Hoo Peninsula.
Last year Medway Council commissioned PRD, Augarde & Partners and Urban Silence to undertake a study that brought together and engaged with residents, businesses and local groups to consider what community facilities and services were important to them both now and in the future.
This community led programme has now produced a draft Community Infrastructure Framework, which includes a vision for the area and focuses on community, culture and leisure infrastructure. The framework outlines how this can be delivered to address and support the physical, economic and social transformation of the area.
The draft Hoo Community Infrastructure Framework was developed with a panel of 50 residents recruited from across the Peninsula. Residents attended six workshops to gain insight into planning, health and leisure processes and discussed challenges and opportunities. Their insight went into the creation of the 60-page draft plan.
With support from council officers and specialists, the team engaged with more than 650 other residents over a series of drop-in community events and meetings with local groups – helping to ensure the voice of local people is at the heart of the framework.
A consultation on the draft Hoo Community Infrastructure Framework is open now, and residents are encouraged to have their say on the proposals. This includes the opportunity to provide feedback on the eight proposed ways of working and eight areas for targeted investment to improve local services.
The consultation closes at 11:59pm on Sunday, 16 March. You can view the draft framework and complete the consultation on our website.
Paper copies are also available at Hoo Sports Centre and Hoo Library.
